I would like to nominate our ice figure skating coach Gillian Otterson. Gillian’s dedication to the sport and kids is second to none. In her own career Gillian won the British Primary, Scottish Junior and Intermediate championships. In 2009 Gillian trained 8 skaters who represented Scotland at the NISA CUP competition in Aberdeen.

Gillian strives to give her kids the most fantastic opportunities to learn within the sport. Recently she organised a seminar with two time European medallist and Olympian Sinead Kerr, then in October a seminar with John Kerr has been arranged.

No one shows more dedication and commitment to the kids than Gillian, they not only learn the art of ICE FIGURE SKATING they also become part of a team and learn many valuable life lessons along the way.

I have had the privilege of being coached by Gillian from a young age to eventually being mentored by her to enable me to become a coach.

I have learned alot from Gillian over the years and one thing that is apparent is her dedication and passion for the sport aswell as encouraging young people to better themselves and reach their goals! Gillian has devoted her whole life to the sport and developing Kyle Figure Skating Club. Her devotion and hard work is demonstrated through the children’s performances at local and national competitions.

One of the most important qualities Gillian possesses is enthusiasm and the children respond brilliantly to an eager, hard working leader!

She is the best coach in figure skating and I’ve had the privilege of being coached by her! She is amazing!
