Will a crack in your windscreen dent your wallet?

As car manufacturers have sought new ways to enhance the driving experience, windscreens have become increasingly high-tech. Not only will your panoramic windscreen offer increased visibility it probably also features rain sensors, heat-reflective surfaces and other enhancements.

While your safety and comfort may be improved, you could find you are paying more than you has bargained for when it comes to a claim. The replacement cost of a panoramic windscreen varies widely depending on the make and model of car.

Client Relationship Manager, Jill Kerrigan, explains,
‘Many motor insurance policies do not cover panoramic windscreens as part of the windscreen section of the policy. This means that claims will be dealt with under the accidental damage section of the policy and will be subject to the standard policy excess and your no claims discount will be affected. We’d advise you to check the policy or speak to us for advice.’
