On 10th September 2009, Driver CPC became a requirement for LGV drivers who drive professionally throughout the UK. Introduced as a result of the EU Directive 2003/59, the Certificate of Professional Competence requires all LGV drivers to undertake 35 hours of training every five years.
Driver CPC applies across all EU member states and its purpose is to refresh and improve the knowledge and skills of lorry and bus drivers. The training benefits road freight and passenger transport industries by encouraging a higher standard of driver performance and more economical vehicle usage.
